We Saw the Dogs

Yesterday during my lunch I went to see one of the 2 dogs I was interested in adopting. She was very sweet and I liked her, but I wasn't smitten. Today Ed and I picked up my mom and went to see the other dog, and he was pretty darn cute. Except for his coloring, he's like a miniature Ed with his ears and tail and stance, and his personality is stunningly similar. So of course they didn't like each other. Only one alpha dog at a time, please. So I'll keep looking.

Later Ed and I went to the dog park, and there were barely 40, if that many, dogs. Today was a perfect weather day, and I bet folks assumed the park would be too muddy due to our harsh rains yesterday. Because the park is on a slope it wasn't muddy at all, but there were streams of dead clumpy grass wiggling throughout, the way it does from a hard rain.

I mowed this evening, and in my pre-mowing ritual I found a small garter snake under the old wagon. It stayed put while I got the camera, and even posed when I picked it up. While holding Miss Snakey up for her pose, I held the camera with the heavy lens in only one hand. I took a good number of shots, so of course I'm going to include one here.

Teeny lavender bloom

Wild strawberry bloom

She was about 12 -13 inches long, and looked healthy

Best one-handed pic I could get of her tongue flick

  1. Oh, your pics of teeny flowers are so beautiful. It's spring here too and I just sit on my ass at my computer researching poetry MFA programs. I always miss the wildflowers in Phoenix, whatever two weeks it is, I miss it. It's like I'm mad at the desert anyhow.

  2. Hi Hooly,

Don't mind telling you that I have a phobia about snakes, but those are some great wildflower shots too...
